Day 189

The Pioneer Woman also started a cooking community called Tasty Kitchen, a wonderful website were cooking enthusiasts can post recipes and pictures and other members comment, review, and post more recipes.
Tonight I tried out a new recipe called Texas Cottage Pie.  It's similar to shepherds' pie but it's a new take on it.  Kind of spicy with the smoked paprika, cumin, chili powder, red pepper, and a little unexpected cinnamon, but the sweetness of the corn is perfection.

Look at all those scratch made "mashies."  Yum.

Oh yes please.  This was so delicious.  Homey mashed potatoes, spicy lean ground beef, sweet and soft onions, some garlic, black beans, sweet corn to offset the spiciness, and delicious tomatoes and green chilis.  Make this for your dinner tonight.
I would guess that the entire 9x13 probably cost about $6.  I bought a 3lb. package of 93% lean ground beef and a 5lb. bag of russet potatoes, but everything else came out of my pantry.
Delicious, cheap, and you can make them into smaller dishes and freeze them.  This is definitely going into our rotation!
