Every now and then I get a craving for Chinese take out. And when there's Chinese take out, there has to be egg rolls, which also means duck sauce. That deliciously sweet apricot sauce that comes in the same little packets as the soy sauce. I love duck sauce. It makes the world go round.
So when I was living in Boston last fall and got a craving for Chinese, I obviously asked for them to throw some duck sauce in the bag. The anticipation mounting, I pulled out the food and looked for the duck sauce, but there were no little orange packets to be found. There was however some odd duck-sauce wannabe sauce that was no where near what I was craving.
A similar thing happened a few weeks ago when John and I ordered Chinese and asked for duck sauce. Unfortunately they didn't give us those delicious little packets but, again, some weird wannabe duck sauce coupled with another container of sweet and sour sauce. Hmph.
So when I sat down and planned out our meals for the week I knew that I had tons of peppers and some chicken breasts. Perfect for some healthy stir fry. As I walked through the isle at the grocery store looking for some teriyaki sauce, I spotted this glorious little bottle.
Oh yes. Now there will be no more confusing conversations trying to describe the delicious apricot sauce that I'm craving to dip my egg roll in.
