Day Seven

Today was beautiful.  It has finally started to cool off and the humidity managed to miss Greensboro today.  Maddie Bailey and I took advantage of the wonderful weather and went outside to relax for a few hours.

This is one of my favorite places to spend some time.  The hammock is right on the back of our yard and lies underneath the shade of some large oak, hickory, and dogwood trees.  I was thinking about turning on the radio on my phone, but then I tuned in to all of the birds and the sound of the rustling leaves on the trees, and a nostalgic feeling came over me.  I remember lying on this hammock on summer days in middle and high school when I was supposed to be summer reading.  I would hear the same sounds: the birds chirping, the leaves rustling, lawnmowers running, and children playing.  Paired with the gently rocking of the hammock, the blowing of the breeze, and the companionship of my dog lying on-guard beside me on the ground, I quickly fell asleep.
I'm going to miss the sounds of not living in the city when I go to Boston.  Fall is my favorite time of year.   But now I'll experience the cool fall mornings and the amazing colors of the trees in a whole new way.
