Happy Valentine's Day!
Today I found a recipe on the Former Chef blog for Meyer Lemon Lavender Cake. I wasn't looking for it. I was just checking up on Google Reader, which I always forget about, and I remembered that I had subscribed to this blog. I had almost all the ingredients for this delicious sounding cake, so I hopped up and started baking. I didn't have a Meyer lemon, but just a regular one from the grocery store (does anyone know what kind of lemons those are?), or lavender, which I'm going to go plant tomorrow so I can make this again with the lavender. I've never cooked with lavender but I've found lots of recipes that use it, especially paired with lemon. Have you cooked with lavender? If so, please share your thoughts and recipes!
And now the much awaited for lemon cake. Click on the link above for the recipe.
Notice the sticky, deliciously lemon glaze on the loaf (and some that's slid down the side and onto the bottom of the platter). Yum. It's just the right amount of sweetness and tartness.
I can only imagine how amazing this would be if I made it exactly as the recipe calls for. I only had one lemon so I wasn't able to put zest in the glaze and, as you know, I had no lavender. Looking forward to making this again!
